Description
Beginning at scenic Egypt trailhead, this route is pretty neat. We'll start off with a nice overland section high above the Escalante River with wide views of the area. Then it is to and across the river to Silver Falls Canyon. Up the canyon we'll go, passing many historical engravings on the sandstone canyon walls. Nearing the top of the canyon we'll swing around to Choprock Canyon while viewing a large portion of the Circle Cliffs from high above the desert floor. As we head down Choprock Canyon, the walls grow higher and closer together, several interesting side canyons will demand exploring and the main canyon narrows to just a couple of feet in width! Then it is back to the Escalante River, up Fence Canyon and back up the old trail with steps cut into the steep slickrock to the top of the Egypt escarpment. With many side canyons to explore, this trip is perfect for people looking for some canyon time. There will be plenty of time to enjoy sunsets, read, draw, photograph, eat good food and relax. As with all of our trips, food and gear are provided.
